Updated Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) Published for 2019 - 2021 Chemical Evaluations
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published an updated version of the Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the years 2019 - 2021. With this update, EU Member State authorities will evaluate 100 chemical substances for risk assessment during the scheduled time period.
About CoRAP
The CoRAP identifies chemicals that are to be evaluated by Member States of the European Union (EU) over a three-year period. The list includes chemical substances whose manufacture or use are suspected to pose human health risks or risks to the environment. Evaluation is intended to help clarify the potential and extent of such risks. As the plan is updated on an annual basis, substances may be added and/or withdrawn for the years in each period. Substances scheduled for immediate evaluation are included in the first year of a given CoRAP period, and selected Member States have 12 months to assess chemicals slated for that first year (beginning from the date of the CoRAP’s publication).
CoRAP for 2019 - 2021
Of the 100 substances being evaluated, 76 had already been published in the previous CoRAP on March 20, 2018. The other 24 substances are newly allocated. Evaluation of the chemicals is to be distributed between 19 Member States over the 2019 - 2021 period.
- 2019 - 31 chemical substances planned for assessment (by 11 Member States)
- 2020 - 44 chemical substances planned for assessment
- 2021 - 25 chemical substances planned for assessment
The 31 chemicals designated for 2019 (below) have a March 2020 evaluation deadline.
