ToxPlanet Announces Availability of Free Resource for Accessing TOXNET Database Information
~ New Solution Enables Access to Important Toxicology, Hazardous Chemical, and Environmental Health Information Collections ~
WILMINGTON, NC – January 6, 2020 – ToxInfo.io, a new solution designed to help toxicology professionals access vital information, is now available from ToxPlanet. Encompassing areas of focus such as chemicals, drugs, environmental health, occupational safety, poisoning, risk assessment, and toxicology, ToxInfo.io features content formerly available on the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) TOXNET® (TOXicology Data NETwork) website, including:
- Carcinogenic Potency Database (CPDB)
- Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System (CCRIS)
- ChemIDplus®
- Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD)
- Consumer Product Information Database (CPID)
- Genetic Toxicology Data Bank (GENE-TOX)
- Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB®)
- Haz-Map®
- Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS)
As of December 16, 2019, TOXNET, a group of databases managed by the National Library of Medicine and covering a wide range of chemical safety topic areas, is no longer available on the NLM website. To help users locate this information more easily, ToxPlanet has developed ToxInfo.io, enabling access to most TOXNET content via a single, consolidated solution.
Matt Timberlake, ToxPlanet General Manager, says "For more than thirty years, TOXNET was the go-to resource for scientists, researchers, and chemical safety professionals looking for reliable toxicology information. So, as long-term participants in the toxicology content space and beneficiaries of the TOXNET collections, when we heard the TOXNET website was going away we decided to create ToxInfo.io to fill the chemical hazard and toxicology information void."
While it will not contain all of the resources once available on TOXNET, Timberlake says "The free ToxInfo.io will become an important tool for toxicologists and other chemical safety professionals that rely on TOXNET database content.”
Powered by ToxPlanet and leveraging its fully mobile-responsive interface, ToxInfo.io complements ToxPlanet’s full suite of content solutions. Users have seamless access to the information they need from any mobile device, wherever they are and whenever they need it.
