ECHA Publishes Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the Years 2021 - 2023

A draft version of the Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the years 2021 - 2023 was submitted to the European Union (EU) Member State Committee (MSC) in November 2020. Based on the MSC's corresponding opinion, an updated final version was published on the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website on March 17, 2021. In this blog post, we take a look at the CoRAP and the chemical substances slated for inclusion.

About CoRAP

The CoRAP identifies chemicals that are to be evaluated by Member States of the European Union (EU) over a three-year period. The list includes chemical substances whose manufacture or use are suspected to pose human health risks or risks to the environment. Evaluation is intended to help clarify the potential and extent of such risks. As the plan is updated on an annual basis, substances may be added and/or withdrawn for the years in each period. Substances scheduled for immediate evaluation are included in the first year of a given CoRAP period, and selected Member States have 12 months to assess chemicals slated for that first year (beginning from the date of the CoRAP’s publication).

CoRAP for 2021 - 2023

Of the 58 chemical substances designated for the 2021 - 2023 CoRAP:

  • 8 are scheduled for evaluation (among 6 Member States) in 2021
  • 40 are scheduled for evaluation in 2022
  • 10 are scheduled for evaluation in 2023
  • 55 of the 58 substances were published previously, in the CoRAP for 2020 - 2022
  • 3 of the 58 substances are new

The chemicals intended for evaluation in 2021, and their associated data, are shown in the table below.
